When determining the size of the ring finger, it is important to remember that ring sizes can vary among races and you should have a professional size your finger.

Many countries have different ring sizing charts and systems.  The chart below is for American sizes.

It is best to size your ring finger when your hands are warm, cold tends to make your fingers shrink.

The best way to get an accurate ring size is to borrow a ring and have it sized.

Ask girlfriends or parents if you know the ring size.

Take her on a shopping trip and casually have her try some rings on and see what her size is.

The average woman has a ring size of "six" and men average around a "ten".

Method

Ring sizing can be done very easily by tying a string around your ring finger.

Have someone mark the spot where the strings intersect/overlap.

Measure the length of the string and compare the results against the American Ring Sizing System.
