Quartz is formed in pegmatites and in veins and is commonly found in deposits of granite and limestone, metamorphic and sandstone deposits. It's sister varieties are often called agate, onyx, tiger's eye, citrine and others. Used in scientific equipment due its ability to be used as an oscillator when exposed to current. Many cultures throughout the world recognized the quartz in its mythology and folklore.
